The composition might have been better if the bottom half was flipped, but Englandís uniform isnít symmetrical, and my scannerís on strike. The uniforms they all wore at the time made for some really convenient colour schemes.
YES! FINALLY! An American Revolutionary War fanart/fan fiction that ACTUALLY is self aware of Spain's involvement! Seriously, Spain almost gets no credit for helping America, despite the fact he, oh I don't know, took an English fort for the patriots and gave them weapons. It wasn't just France's armies that helped America, it was Spain's as well. You'd think people in the Hetalia fanbase would know that.
Yeah, but the problem is that, when they do involve more than English and American, they only involve France AND THAT'S IT! They involve Prussia, but only during Valley Forge. It's like they're not aware that Spain was just as involved as France. In fact, Spain's army helped first before France's army. They came in late. When the French army finally came, it was at the last minute. Spain's army already arrived for Yorktown. They invaded English forts for the patriots to stay at. Hell, while France never helped America until the patriots proved themselves to survive against England, Spain actually started helping a year later after the war started. It might've not been much, but it was SOMETHING. It was sure ten times more than the other countries like the Norex, Italy, Greenland, and a few other European countries. Also, another thing many forget, when writing about the revolution, Americans also smuggled England's ships filled with weapons. Many of the patriots were pirates themselves.
Haha, well, can't say history education is very inclusive to begin with, and I'd imagine Spain to be less popular in the fandom than the Allies and Prussia unfortunately. I didn't know much about Spain's involvement either before doing research for this pic. That's the nice thing about Hetalia, it encourages learning new things in the name of making interesting fanworks.
That's because Hetalia is mainly for those that already know their history. If you don't know what the fuck is going on, you're never going to get the jokes. Like the joke about Japan's boss only speaking dutch. Of course, because we Americans don't really look into Japanese history, we're not going to get that joke, but Hetalia was released in Japan. The people of Japan are going to get that joke, because a Japanese citizen not getting why the hell the prime minister was pretending to only speak dutch would be like us Americans not getting why we call our natives "indians" instead of Native Americans.
I actually had to research about that, because, being an American, I didn't know about Japanese history. Apparently, dutch used to be a common language in Japan, due to the dutch's visitation to Japan. Go fucking figure.
This is amazing. It is wonderful I love it so much! It is the true history of what happened! There's America with Spain and France then canada is still loyal to Britain. This is just loving. Thank you so much for this. Just making it..... Thank you.
I love that way Alfred I can just imagine what going in that mind o his.
Should I be happy. I got what I want I am free. I have a nation name. A nation am a nation, but how many family were broken. Home that have been lost. Broken I broke England. How can I ever call him by his human name.
I know it strange, but that was going in my mind when I sow this.
Is this drawing supposed to take place after the final battle between them? Are the people next to Alfred specific countries, or states? I love Arthur's pose. He seems to distressed, you captured that perfectly. (And then there's Mattie, a people pleaser, coming to help him feel better, if even a little. ;() While Alfred sits with (comrades?) drinking to celebrate I assume. And maybe to also cover the grief that he's feeling as well.
