APH - Jingle Bells by freefallcrash APH - Jingle Bells by freefallcrash
Belated Canada and Handover Day pic. Hong Kong is playing the gorgeous erhu aka Chinese violin.

If the title doesn't make sense, look up 'Battle of Hong Kong', but I can't really recommend doing that if you're in high spirits.

Is that the one with all the hospital attacks?
I think I remember something about it from history.

Yep, that's the one. It was very brutal in how most of the victims were civilian staff and their wounded patients.

I never knew China was the first who found the violin. :dummy: I like the nice autumn-/sepia colour scheme. I'd wanna to hear these two in life. :dummy:

It's only called the Chinese fiddle, but I don't think it really has much to do with the Western kind. They're so different from each other I think they were developed independently from each other.

Glad you like this!

I definately will have to look up this battle for I believe I have never learned of it, what a shame :(

This is such a tender picture, I like the tone chosen, it seems to really suit the mood that you are trying to portray. Te composition of the characters with their instruments is done very professionally, ah their uniforms, especially Canada's hair spilling out beneath his cap, is a very nice touch

Yeah, it's pretty rare to see them drawn with characters outside their group.

Oh it looks wonderful (though yeah the Battle of Hong Kong) is certainly not a cheerful thing to look up. It was interesting to learn about the erhu thing.

I've met some of the veterans from then at a human rights thing being held at one of the highschools around where I live -they were some of the survivors of the prison camps.
Awesome men is all I can say.
The Japanese representive lady that was there to answer questions from the students about the atrocities that were committed in Hong Kong and Korea was basically butchered by all the questions that were thrown at her. The look on her face -she couldn't answer most of those questions without making herself and Japan look like monsters.

Yeah, the people who made it through such a horrific time are incredible. And wow, that must have been a tough job for the representative. There are simply no ways to sugar-coat what happened.
